Not Sure How To Propose To A Girl (Or A Guy)? There's An App For That.
After becoming an expert on diamond, what now? Naturally, the next step is presenting that precious piece of stone to the love of your life. But that comes the another question. How?
Here is a life-saver. Thank you (really), Helzberg Diamonds.
Homepage of App (A note for marketers, Helzberg Diamonds have got my information right from the start)
This is the Proposal Pro by Helzberg Diamonds. As the name suggests, the app is designed to help you build the perfect proposal plan. It is interesting to see such an app developed by a jewelry company, but I think it is spot on. However, I'm a little unsure of giving them my information right from the start to a company that I have never heard of. Well, I still did because I wanted to get some advice.
Helzberg Diamonds is a jewelry retailer founded in 1915 and now wholly owned by Berkshire Hathaway (Warren Buffett's empire). It currently owns 234 stores across the United States. The company is famous for I Am Loved buttons that is conceived in 1967 by Barnett Helzberg Jr.

Now, back to making a perfect proposal. For those of you who have missed my previous blog on diamonds, don't worry. The app offers a similar type of education on diamonds as De Beers. It tells you about the 4Cs, shapes and answers five frequently ask questions. Just in case you have yet to get your diamond, you can find a store near you as well. It is really important that you get your ring first, as suggested by the app, "33% of women think proposing without a ring is a mistake". Why take your chances?
Once you've learnt more about diamonds, the app is very thoughtful in offering couple other features. It has created a timeline for your perfect proposal. The timeline is broken down into, the date, the ring, the parents (this is really HELPFUL), the location, the proposal and the news. I can make notes and changes on the timeline accordingly. In addition, it has ring size finder within the app. And even if you I don't get it exactly right, the company has kindly offer to size it up or down for me. Thanks for that note, it really eases my nerves. Now even a clumsy guy like me won't forget anything, especially the ring.

When you first log in to the app, it shows you a tutorial of how to use it. The interface is simple with the maroon and white of Helzberg Diamonds. One thing I notice is the app has a reward system. For instance, after I have read through tips on meeting the parents, it adds a heart to my rewards. Once I have accumulated 25 hearts, I will get a $25 reward from Helzberg Diamonds. From a marketeer's perspective, this is ingenious. While the system helps me to track my progress, it also incentivize me to make a purchase from them.

Decoy notification is another cool yet thoughtful thing that the app has done. It allows you to set a fake notification from the options they provided. Having a secondary trigger as Mystique, I totally understand that you want to keep all your proposal plan in secrecy until the big day. The app pushes these decoy notifications to me to keep me on track without spilling the beans, how wonderful!

While I am previously unknown to the brand, I am really fond of Helzberg Diamonds after using the app. By positioning the app as a helper for guys like me to build a perfect proposal, it established a very intimate relationship with the user. Personally, I feel a little more graphic within the app would work better. Some advice from others who have proposed would have been very helpful too. Nevertheless, the small details within the app to calm me during the planning process are the most valuable. Helzberg Diamonds know I am nervous, and they care. I don't regret giving them the information at the beginning. Now, when the time comes for me to pop the question, I know where to find help.
And it seems he's ready, are you?

Thank you for taking a bite!
